Brazilian bodysurfer Kalani Lattanzi made waves on Monday, as he rode an incredible 25-foot swell at Wedding Cake Island, off the coast of Sydney, Australia.

Spending over an hour getting to the wave, the 29-year old Lattanzi had nothing with him besides “a pair of boardies and a set of fins,” and was seen entering at the top of the wave, paddling on his own.

According to Lattanzi’s social media posts, locals said it was the largest swell the area had ever seen. The surfer actually ignored warnings that it was not safe to enter the waters to take on the wave.

Many onlookers and social media fans watched the ride in awe.

Lifeguard and photographer Anthony Glick posted on Instagram that Lattanzi’s effort was “so epic to watch” and “one of the craziest things I have ever seen another human do,” while photographer Dallas Kilponen tweeted: “Just incredible. The guy is amazing”.Lattanzi was born in Hawaii and raised in Brazil. Now back in Maui, he’s known for surfing some of the most intense swells in the world, including bodysurfing in the same location as Jaws and taking on the massive waves in Nazaré, Portugal.  Lattanzi’s record is a swell of 12 meters (over 39 feet). His new documentary Kalani is available now on Amazon, Google Play, Apple TV, and Vimeo. For more information about the film, you can visit Kalanithefilm.com. Watch the trailer below.
