Recipe: This Homemade Instant Oatmeal is Perfect for Your Next Camping Trip

These homemade single-serve oatmeal packs are perfect for breakfast on the go. Take these along on hikes, picnics, or camping trips for a customizable breakfast that just needs hot water to prepare. 

Recipe: Homemade Instant Oatmeal for Camping

Ingredients (serves 2):

  • 1 cup quick-cooking oats
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar (adjust to your preference)
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • Toppings (dried berries, nuts, chocolate, cinnamon, etc.)

Instructions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine with oats, sugar, and chia seeds. Mix thoroughly. 
  2. Divide the oat mixture between two mason jars. 
  3. Top with any mix-ins you’d like (I used freeze dried strawberries and chocolate chips in one, & peanut butter chips and cinnamon in the other). 
  4. Seal tightly until ready to eat. To prepare, top the oat mixture with 1/2 cup boiling water. Place the lid back on the jar and allow to stand for 2 minutes. Enjoy!
