Larry Weaver

An RV industry sales representative for over 40 years, Larry D. Weaver, 79, passed away Thursday, Aug. 24, at his home, according to his obituary published by The Goshen News.

He was born December 27, 1943 to Ted and Kathryn Weaver.

Survivors include his wife, Mardell “Susie” (Andrews) Weaver, Elkhart; two sons, Tim (Jennifer) Weaver, Nappanee, and Todd (Michele) Weaver, Mentor, Ohio; a stepson, Dustin Miller, Warsaw; a stepdaughter, Debi Xaver, Dallas, Texas; four grandchildren, Natalie Weaver, Alec Weaver, MacKenzie Weaver, and Madison Weaver; and three stepgrandchildren, Garrett Miller, Evan Miller, and Hudson Hernandez.

Larry graduated from Wakarusa High School in 1962 and was an outstanding multi-sport athlete.

He was a football coach at Mt. Morris (Michigan) and Jimtown high schools. He then worked as a salesman in the recreational vehicle industry for over 40 years. He took great pride in being a hard and tireless worker throughout his entire life.

He was a member of Wakarusa United Methodist Church.

He was incredibly proud of his family, enjoyed his grandchildren, and meticulously maintained his residence (Grandma’s Place).

He served on the Wa-Nee School board for 16 years. He enjoyed helping others and was a longtime member of Sharing Citizens and the Wakarusa Lions Club.

He was a passionate supporter of NorthWood athletics and was well-known for his motivational attitude and sayings, including the ten two letter words: “If it is to be, it is up to me.” Simply put, he was “The Weave”.

Visitation will be held from 2-7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 4, at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Wakarusa and for one hour before a 10:30 a.m. funeral on Tuesday, Sept. 5, at the Wakarusa United Methodist Church.

Burial will take place in Olive West Cemetery, Elkhart.

Memorial contributions in Larry’s name can be given to NorthWood Athletics.
