First New Westfalia Wave Sold During Tampa RV SuperShow – RVBusiness – Breaking RV Industry News
TAMPA, Fla. – Westfalia, once an iconic German brand of camper van, made it’s North American comeback during a consumer-facing relaunch at the Florida RV SuperShow in Tampa where it celebrated a first – the first sale of an all-new Westfalia Wave.
Kylie Johnson, head of marketing for Westfalia North America, said, “We got the first new Westfalia Wave owner here at the show. It was a very exciting day. Our CEO was down. Our founder of Rapido Group was also down to celebrate and commend the moment. So, really exciting and it couldn’t have gone to a more perfect owner.”
Johnson explained that the owner, Gerry Dunn, of Hollywood Fla., was on his fourth Westfalia.
“He had one in Australia. He had two others in the states and he just had to come and pick one up. And he got one and there’s the story. It’s exciting,” Johnson said.
Dunn chose the solar version of the wave, which is also offered in a pop-top model, both sporting the same floorplan.
“That was the one that suited his lifestyle best and he’s super excited. He got a paddle board and a hat. He’s a happy guy,” she added.
Prior to the show, Len McDougall, head of sales for Westfalia North America, noted that “The Florida RV Super Show marks a milestone for Westfalia as we present the all-new Westfalia Wave to the consumers. It’s an opportunity for enthusiasts to witness the legendary Westfalia spirit in a modern and innovative design.”
This consumer debut at Tampa followed a pre-production reveal of the new Westfalia at the Elkhart RV Open House in September 2023, where the unit made the RVBusiness list of “Must See RVs.”
The new Westfalia features include a patented easy foldout combination front bench seat/bed and intentional storage to fit larger gear like paddle boards and mountain bikes in a versatile trunk and aisle space.
