ELKHART, Ind. – In what many see as an industry first, the East To West division of Forest River Inc. will use a head-to-head comparison against a key competitor to help launch its new fifth-wheel trailer series and its superior construction, feature set and retail price, according to a press release from East To West.

The unique head-to-head comparison pits the new East To West Blackthorn series against the Brinkley Model Z series. At four locations around the U.S., a Blackthorn fifth wheel will be displayed side-by-side with the comparable Brinkley model and consumers will be invited to walk through, compare the two units, and vote on design, features, comfort, quality, convenience and price. Consumers who complete the form and return it will receive a gift for participating.

“The new East To West Blackthorn fifth wheel series represents a breakthrough in quality and price,” said Mark Krol, ceneral manager of East To West. “We’re confident that the new Blackthorn is superior in virtually every category, and we deliver it at more than $8,000 less than a comparably equipped Brinkley. So, what better way to highlight our confidence than to put it to the test against a popular model and let the consumer vote.”

Results from the head-to-head comparisons will be tabulated by an independent agency for authenticity and certification.

“The new East To West Blackthorn mid-profile fifth-wheels combine a modern automotive-style exterior with quality construction, luxury features and stunning interior décor. Launching in the 2024 model year, Blackthorn fifth-wheels will ship to select dealers across North America starting August 2023,” the release stated.

The new East To West Blackthorn half-ton fifth-wheels deliver the same modern automotive-style exterior, quality construction, luxury features and spacious floor plans without maxing out the truck. With floor plans starting under 7,500 pounds and hitch weights below 1,400 pounds, Blackthorn half-ton fifth-wheels can be confidently towed with many of today’s half-ton trucks.
