CCRVA Encourages Owners to Support Tax Amendments – RVBusiness – Breaking RV Industry News
EDITOR’S NOTE: This letter was recently distributed by the Canadian Camping and RV Association and highlights a key tax issue that impacts park owners.
I hope this message finds you well as we enter a crucial period for our industry. We stand at a pivotal juncture that calls for our collective advocacy to secure a legislative amendment that directly benefits our campgrounds and the communities we serve.
Background and Importance of the Bill
As you may be aware, the tax classification issues facing private campgrounds in Canada have long hindered our industry’s growth and competitiveness. The unfair tax burden placed on campgrounds, treating them as passive investment businesses rather than active businesses, has severely impacted many of our members across the country. In response, MP Lianne Rood of Lambton-Kent-Middlesex, recognizing the disparity in tax treatment, has introduced a Private Members’ Bill (C-410) aimed at amending the Income Tax Act to recognize campgrounds as active businesses, eligible for the small business tax rate.
