Woman Runs Marathon in Polar Bear Suit, Gains World Record
Gill Punt, a P.E. teacher from Bromsgrove School in the U.K., ran the Polar Night Marathon in Norway while wearing a polar bear suit, and she achieved a Guinness World Record. The event took place earlier this month in the Arctic Circle amid extreme cold temperatures. Punt and the other athletes ran in darkness and on snow and ice, but only Punt did all of this while also wearing a full-body polar bear suit.

Bromsgrove School shared several photos on Instagram of Punt running her race. The school also shared that Punt raised over £20,000 ($25,000) for a U.K. nonprofit focused on cancer research. She ended up with a world record for “fastest woman to complete an ice marathon dressed as a mammal.”
Punt finished her marathon in 4 hours, 58 minutes, and 29 seconds. She says she heard Arctic wolves howling as she ran.
