Winnebago Industries Announces Layoffs at 4 Iowa Plants – RVBusiness – Breaking RV Industry News

FOREST CITY, Iowa – Winnebago Industries has announced it will be laying off 196 production employees from four different facilities in northern Iowa effective June 13, according to a report in the Des Moines Register.

The layoffs include 128 from its main plant in Forest City along with 30 in Lake Mills, 20 in Charles City and 18 in Waverly, according to Iowa’s Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification, or WARN, website.

For the iconic RV manufacturer, it is the third layoff announced in less than a year, although the previous two, occurring in July and October 2024, were smaller at 33 and 36 employees, respectively. The July layoff was the result of the company closing a facility it operated in Charles City.

Winnebago Industries issued the following statement:

In response to recent cyclical shifts in the RV industry including decreased customer demand, elevated inventory levels, and other business considerations, we are balancing the workforce size within the Winnebago brand’s motorhome division. With this adjustment, we had to make the difficult decision to eliminate some roles at our Iowa campuses. We are assisting affected team members during this period of transition. We remain committed to the success of our flagship Winnebago brand and continue to be invested in the Iowa community.
