Wild Lioness Silently Stalks Buffalo in Creepy Video

At the ol Donyo Lodge in southern Kenya, a lioness silently stalks a buffalo drinking from a watering hole. It’s night time, and the buffalo can not only not see the predator lurking behind it but it also can’t smell or hear the lioness as she carefully approaches. How do you think this one ends?

“A lion’s paws (like all cats) are padded, allowing it to move completely silently in the darkness as it stalks its prey,” wrote Safari Obsessions, a safari content account, which shared the video from Great Plains Conservation, a conservation tourism organization that operates in Africa. “This was captured well on this video, which was filmed by a webcam set up to record wildlife at a waterhole.”
It’s possible an unknown animal saved this buffalo’s life, because it sure looks like the lion was poised to strike. It’s a little creepy, but also very impressive to see proof of how silent big cats can be when they’re on the hunt.
