WATCH: Young Angler Gets Face Full of Squid Ink

Kai Peverell is an accomplished angler at just seven years old. Peverell and his family live in a small coastal town in northwest Australia. This angler certainly had a memorable summer, especially after hooking a squid while night fishing and getting squirted in the face with ink. His dad got the whole thing on video.

In the clip posted to Kai’s Instagram account, you see young Peverell with his back to camera as he exclaims “I got him, I got him!” As he starts to reel in the mystery creature, it squirts ink in his face, and he turns toward the camera.

Peverell’s reaction is admirable. He’s clearly not loving being coated with ink, but he also laughs and patiently waits while his mom helps him finish bringing in the squid and then wipes off his face.
