Ah, the great outdoors. So serene, so peaceful. Nature can be rough, though. One woman working at a ranch in New Mexico got a sickening reminder that nature’s not always nice. In a TikTok video, she shares the moments she found three severed horse legs hanging from trees not too far from the ranch corrals and cabin. She infers the culprit was a mountain lion.

“Found 3 horse legs with the shoes still tacked on, hanging in separate trees, all a couple hundred meters apart, and less than a half mile from the corrals and cabin,” she wrote in the TikTok video. She also quips: “Working in mountain lion country is fun.”

The ranch worker is Dawgmentality (@user3468572810) on TikTok. She says she and her team found three of the deceased horse’s legs earlier this year, but never found the fourth (or the rest of the horse, for that matter). She kept at least one of the legs, saying it’s “still one of my greatest finds and treasures.”

Watch the two TikToks she made after the gruesome discovery here:

In case this is leaving you wanting more, Dawgmentality posted an update with some more information about the situation. She explains that the horse was put down for reasons unknown to her and the animal’s body was returned to nature. A mountain lion must have carried parts of the carcass up into these trees, which they’re known to do.

Long ass video but I like sharing my stories 🤷‍♀️ (skip to the end if you just wanna see the leg up close) one of the other wranglers went to visit another camp a few miles away one evening, he decided to go on foot (he was a marathoner okay) and he said on his way back he was followed by the mountain lion 😭 obviously it didn’t do anything to him. And then a camper reported seeing glowing eyes right across from his tent when he unzipped it in the middle of the night. But yeah that cat never harmed anyone (except the deer I guess 😭) he minded his own. Good kitty? Honestly the bear that lived up there caused a lot more problems. But 10/10 would work there again. #mountainlion #horse #ranchlife #newmexico #coolfinds #horseshoe
