WATCH: Drones Replace Fourth of July Fireworks

Many cities across the country opted to do drone shows instead of fireworks.

While it may be a change to a beloved Independence Day tradition, the new trend is a focus on sustainability. Officials say the popular move avoids excess debris from fireworks and reduces the risks of wildfires. 

Here’s a look at the show in New York City.

Other cities include everything from Los Angeles to Colorado Springs, but it’s not just cities opting for drones over fireworks. A recent concert with Dead & Co. used drones as part of their show.

Companies that operate these shows suggest using drones not only helps combat air pollution but there’s no trash left behind on the ground.
