Wait for It—Workers on Drill Rig Did Not See This Orca Coming
Some workers on a drill rig off the coast of Santa Barbara, California got a shock when an orca suddenly surfaced near a small group of sea lions floating in the ocean, no doubt looking for a sea-lion snack. Although they must have suspected something was down there, since this person was filming, it’s clear from the people’s reaction that they didn’t quite expect to see what they saw.

“A friend sent this from a drill rig off the Santa Barbara coast,” wrote Bryan Jakus in his Instagram post sharing the video. He also wrote in a comment reply that the video is from January 3. After the video took off, Jakus shared a second video from the drill rig, which shows an orca ramming into a sea lion and sending it flying through the air.
