Volume up: Did You Know a Mountain Lion Could Sound Like This?

A hiker heard what you’d assume was some birds chirping, but she knew better. Myranda Hausheer frequently hikes in mountain-lion country, and she recently shared a video featuring a unique sound these predators make in hopes it will help educate other hikers.

“Did you know that a mountain lion could sound like this?” Hausheer writes. “You could easily mistake it for a bird.”
Hausheer explains that mountain lions will sometimes “chirp” to communicate with other mountain lions. (Watch a mountain lion making this sound here.)
