Viral Video: Cougar Kills Pet, Then Stalks Family Through Windows

A cougar recently stalked a family through glass windows after killing their pet cat. A video showing the mountain lion with blood-matted fur snarling at a glass door in Alberta, Canada has gone viral. In the clip, a terrified woman speaks to her young child as she films the cougar in the backyard through glass-paneled windows and doors.

An Instagram user named Jess (@leelowlemon), whose profile is private, took the video from inside her home. She submitted it to the Instagram account Nature Is Metal, which shares viral-worthy nature content. The video has more than 1.1 million likes.

In the video, Jess laments that the cougar killed “Oreo,” the family’s cat. She had to break the news to her child and asks the child not to look. At one point, you see the mountain lion carry the cat’s limp body past the door.

“This mountain lion just ended the family cat, but instead of absconding into the forest with it, she decided to mean mug at the family from the back patio,” writes Nature Is Metal in the video’s caption. “This mountain lion is still on the loose, but local fish and game agents are still actively pursuing it.”
