There are a lot of camper van conversion companies to choose from these days, many of which offer their clients beautiful and thoughtful designs. But if you’re an avid outdoor enthusiast, it’s hard not to lust over the Class B models produced by Outside Van. The company creates purpose-built adventure vehicles designed to support an active lifestyle with many features and amenities that simply aren’t found anywhere else. Nowhere is this more evident than in its latest concept camper van built specifically to support outdoor endurance athletes while training and competing on the road.

Dubbed the Pacer, this concept design includes a number of features that trail runners, cyclists, climbers, and other adventure athletes are sure to love. For instance, the van’s queen-size bed raises and lowers as needed and is suspended over a gear garage with room for bikes, inflatable kayaks or SUP boards, backpacks, and other equipment. The double-wide, fully-enclosed shower includes a built-in bench and an array of red lights designed to enhance and promote post-workout recovery. The vehicle even comes with spacious lounge seating where owners can relax and take advantage of the included Normatech Compression Leggings and Hyperice massage gun.

Other thoughtful features include a large galley kitchen with a dual-burner induction stove, a microwave oven, a mini-fridge/freezer combo, and a stainless steel sink. LED lighting is featured throughout the interior, and ample storage comes courtesy of wood cabinets and a compartment hidden underneath the lounge seating. An air compressor can be found in the gear garage, where mesh storage pockets, L-track mounting, and MOLLE panels add to the storage and customizability of the vehicle.

The Pacer has a 950 amp-hour house battery bank that recharges via dual 140-watt roof-mounted solar panels or a high-amp secondary alternator. That system provides electrical power to all of the onboard appliances, including a 12-volt air conditioner. Heat comes courtesy of a hydronic diesel furnace, which also provides hot water from the 25-gallon onboard fresh water tank.

Outside, Van made sure the Pacer performs well on and off-road, too. Built on the Mercedes Sprinter 170 platform, the vehicle features upgraded Fox Factory shocks, burly all-terrain tires, and an enhanced exterior lighting package. It also has fortified leaf springs, a full-length safari roof rack, and an all-wheel drive system for negotiating rough terrain.

In addition to the thoughtful and innovative design, you’ll also notice that Outside Van used high-quality materials with this build-out, creating a warm, inviting, and comfortable space. You don’t have to be an endurance athlete to appreciate those features, but if you are, you’ll understand why this is such a fantastic concept vehicle.

While this model is a one-of-a-kind design, it is an excellent indication of what the company is capable of when it comes to custom builds. For more information, visit the Outside Camper website.
