Video Captures Adorable Golden Getting Pet by Alleged Bike Thief

Don’t expect man’s best friend to protect your outdoor gear. A recent video from California shows an alleged bike thief taking off with a $1,000 ride, but not before petting an oblivious golden retriever.

The San Diego Police Department released the video hoping to find the suspect, who you can see in the video grabbing a 2019 black Electra 3-speed bicycle. 

The suspect is about to leave but stops as the bike owner’s dog runs to the front of the garage to say hello. As San Diego PD put it, “In a rather peculiar turn of events, as the suspect was about to make his escape, he paused to pet the household dog who had entered the garage.”

Police are asking for anyone with information to contact them. For everyone else not in the San Diego area, it’s a good reminder that your dog may now be the best form of defense.
