When you think about New York, the first thing that comes to mind is probably New York City. This is an amazing place, but the state has so much more to offer, especially if you’re an RVer. Upstate New York is dotted with RV parks, resorts, and campgrounds, but one of the best places to visit is Southwoods RV Resort.

This park is close to several popular attractions such as Niagra Falls, Lake Ontario, and the Finger Lakes. If you’re planning a visit to upstate New York this year, this could be a fantastic place to set up camp for a few days.

You can also expect a great experience for an affordable price. One of the biggest appeals of this resort is the value. Most guests can stay for less than $50 per night, but still have access to one of the best parks in the state. So don’t ignore this gem during your next visit up north!

Overview

Southwoods RV Resort is located in the city of Byron, on the outskirts of Rochester. Buffalo is also quite close if you’re looking for another town to visit. It’s also in close proximity to a couple of the great lakes. There’s Lake Ontario to the north and Lake Erie to the east.

The resort isn’t directly on the waterfront, but you won’t have to drive too far to reach the shore. It would be easy to get there and back in a single day, so be sure to bring your towels and sunscreen.

The Southwoods RV Resort is quite large, with a total of 232 RV sites. Most are open to the public during the prime camping months, while others are only for seasonal members who have all-year access.

If you visit the resort and end up falling in love with it, you can become a seasonal member to access extra perks. A few of the benefits that seasonal members get include winter storage, early campground access, extra site customization, and more. Visit the resort website for more information about this program.

Nearly all of the sites come with full hookups so you’ll be able to camp in comfort without worrying about draining your battery or running out of fresh water. A few sites don’t have sewage hookups, but the on-site bathrooms and dump station can help make up the difference.

Big-rig sites are also available, with a maximum length of 70 feet. This give you plenty of room to pull in and out, so you can rest easy if you have a large RV.

Resort Rates

The rates are also quite affordable here. It’s listed as a resort, but the prices are comparable to standard RV parks. So you’ll get extra amenities and comfort without breaking the bank. The rates can fluctuate a bit, but here is the average nightly rate for each type of campsite:
