Unique RV Kitchen Accessories to Make RV Life Easier Than Ever
RV living offers a unique blend of adventure and minimalism, but the compact kitchen space can sometimes feel…well, limiting. It doesn’t have to be that way, though! After a decade on the road, we’ve learned that a handful of smart, space-savvy RV kitchen accessories can transform even the smallest RV kitchen into a functional, efficient, and enjoyable cooking haven.
When storage is tight, every gadget needs to earn its keep. With that in mind, we’ve assembled a list of unique RV kitchen accessories to help you make the most of your RV kitchen, wherever your adventures take you.
NuWave “PIC Flex” Induction Hob/Cooktop
While there’s nothing wrong with cooking on a typical RV stove, there are times when it pays to have some extra flexibility in your setup. Maybe you’re staying in a campground with electricity included and you want to conserve on propane, or maybe there are days when the weather’s just right and you decide you’d prefer to do your cooking outside.
Whatever the case, an induction hob like this one from NuWave is a game changer for sure. Its form factor is relatively portable for something that requires a power outlet, so it’s easy to set up wherever you need to do your cooking. It also heats up crazy fast and offers six temperature presets (and three power wattage levels!) that you can hop between as needed. MSRP: $79.99.
Ilsa Cast Iron Stovetop Heat Diffuser
If you are going to stick to cooking on your RV’s propane stovetop, you may still find certain tasks challenging, such as low-and-slow simmering of liquids (think soups, stews, and sauces) or the preparation of delicate dishes such as custard or caramel. You may also prefer not to scorch the undersides of delicate cookware or any stovetop coffee makers like the Moka pot.
All of which is to say that the Ilsa cast iron stovetop heat diffuser is an ingenious little tool. It absorbs the propane burner heat and distributes it gently and evenly beneath a pot or pan, preventing “hot spots” and making the temperature easier to regulate overall. You’ll quickly find it an indispensable add-on to your RV kitchen arsenal. Amazon.com Price: $22.99.
Berkey Gravity-Fed Water Filter
As full-time RVers who are constantly bouncing between different locations, we understand all too well how difficult it can be to consistently have clean, great-tasting water everywhere we go. At least, that’s how we felt before we discovered the Berkey countertop water filter.
It couldn’t be simpler to use: Just fill the top canister with water from the tap, let it slowly drip down through the inner filter elements and into the lower reservoir, and when it’s done, you have crystal clear, clean-tasting water that can be dispensed into your reusable bottles, cookpots, ice trays (or an ice machine, as we’ll get to below), or what-have-you.
While I would never suggest using a Berkey to try decontaminating lake/river water or anything of that ilk, I do have plenty of peace of mind about the campground tap water I consume every day, and for me that’s all that matters. MSRP: $357.
Countertop Nugget Ice Maker
My wife and I both grew up in the land of Sonic Drive-In, so you could say we’re pretty particular about the ice we put in our cups. We’re the types who love to chew the ice after finishing a drink, and to us there’s nothing better than nugget ice.
To ensure we always have access to the good stuff on our travels, we turn to our countertop nugget ice maker. It delivers fresh, softly chewable ice within minutes, operating throughout the day to make our adventures on the road feel just a little more luxurious. MSRP: $229.99.
Crehora Touchless Automatic Soap Dispenser
This automatic soap dispenser is one of those items that really belongs in any size/style of kitchen, not just RVs. However, I couldn’t help including it on this list because it’s just so handy (get it?) to have around.
Rather than having to touch a soap bottle after, say, handling raw meat, you simply wave your hand beneath this dispenser and it’ll squirt out some soap for you to wash with. You can also load it up instead with hand sanitizer, shampoo, shower gel, or a facial cleanser if you prefer.
Need an RV-specific benefit? The fact that it’s powered by four AAA batteries means you can keep using it while boondocking—no generator or solar required! Amazon.com price: $21.99.
Stick-On Cord Organizers
On travel days we always find ourselves putting away a lot of countertop appliances—coffee machine, air fryer, pressure cooker, etc—and this task has been much easier to deal with ever since we stuck these cord wraps on everything. They keep all those power cords nice and tidy rather than letting them flop around or get tangled, making them one of my favorite RV kitchen accessories.
In fact, it’s not just on travel days; these organizers also help us out with the daily swapping out of appliances that naturally occurs in an environment with small counter space. Amazon.com price: $7.64.
Prepworks Magnetic Measuring Spoons
After moving days, it’s not unusual for the various tools in our kitchen drawer to get shuffled around and separated from one another. I hated always having to dig around for the right size measuring spoon, so I got these magnetic ones and haven’t looked back.
The embedded magnets keep them nested together, making them all easy to find while saving drawer space in the process. I also appreciate that each one has a round end for measuring liquids and a spice-bottle-friendly oval end, making them extra versatile. Amazon.com price: $20.81.
Instant Pot
The Instant Pot has revolutionized cooking for millions, and it’s easily one of the best RV kitchen accessories. This multi-functional appliance combines a pressure cooker, a slow cooker, a rice cooker, and more into one compact unit, making it ideal for saving space and time. From stews and soups to yogurt and desserts, the Instant Pot can handle it all.
For RVers in particular, the three-quart Instant Pot Duo Mini is a perfect fit, offering all the functionality in a smaller, space-friendly size. Amazon.com price: $79.95.
Roll-Up Over-Sink Dish Drying Rack
Counter space is often at a premium in RV kitchens, which is why multi-functional tools are a must.
The roll-up dish drying rack provides a convenient space to dry dishes or rinse produce without taking up precious counter space. When not in use, it rolls up for easy storage in a drawer or cabinet. The one we’ve linked here is silicone-coated as well, making it extra durable and slip-resistant. MSRP: $25.48.
Expandable Drawer Dividers
Keeping RV drawers organized can be a challenge due to their small size and odd shapes. Expandable drawer dividers like these are an easy way to maximize storage while keeping utensils, gadgets, or spices in their place. These adjustable dividers are simple to install and can be rearranged as needed, making them a versatile organizational tool for any RV kitchen. Amazon.com price: $28.97.
GorillaLine Indoor & Outdoor Retractable Clothesline
While this might seem like a laundry tool, the GorillaLine retractable clothesline is surprisingly useful in the kitchen. Use it to hang dish towels, drying herbs, or even lightweight kitchen tools. Its retractable design keeps it out of the way when not in use, and its portability makes it a multi-purpose accessory that works both indoors and outdoors. Amazon.com price: Starts at $29.15.
AeroPress Coffee Maker
To this day, one of my all-time favorite purchases is the AeroPress coffee maker. You don’t need a big, fancy machine to make some of the best-tasting coffee of your life. All you need to do is add some freshly ground (perhaps locally roasted) coffee beans and some hot water to this tubelike gizmo, place it onto a sturdy mug, press the plunger down, and you’ve got a reliably delicious cuppa joe to get you through those long travel days.
When it’s not in use, the AeroPress stows away nicely in a drawer or cabinet. It’s the kind of thing you could easily pack into a suitcase or backpack, so its form factor is more than friendly for the RV kitchen. MSRP: $39.95.
Maximizing Your RV Kitchen Space
When living in an RV, making the most of your kitchen space is key to enjoying your cooking experience. Here are some tips to help you get the most out of your setup:
- Use vertical storage: Install hooks, magnetic strips, or wall-mounted racks to store knives, spices, or utensils. Vertical storage frees up counter space and keeps essential tools within easy reach.
- Opt for multipurpose items: Accessories like the Instant Pot and roll-up dish rack save space by serving multiple functions. Choosing dual-purpose tools minimizes clutter while maximizing utility.
- Declutter regularly: From time to time, assess your kitchen tools and accessories. Keep only the items you use frequently and consider donating or storing those that take up space without adding value.
- Think compact and stackable: Look for nesting or stackable cookware, collapsible containers, and compact gadgets to save space without sacrificing functionality.
As you can see, there are lots of great RV kitchen accessories that can help making cooking on the road a cinch. Which ones will you invest in first?
