In a letter to employees today (Jan. 9), Tiffin Motorhomes President Leigh Tiffin announced that the Red Bay, Ala.-based RVbuilder is discontinuing the operations for its Vanleigh RV towable division in Burnsville, Miss.

Founded in 2014 by Leigh Tiffin and his father, Van Tiffin, Vanleigh RV produced fifth-wheels most recently under the Vilano and Beacon brands as well as the Ambition toy hauler.

RVBusiness unsuccessfully attempted to contact officials with Tiffin Motorhomes and Vanleigh RV for further confirmation.

“After thorough evaluation, it is with deep sadness that we have made the decision to restructure the organization by discontinuing operations at Vanleigh RV,” Leigh Tiffin stated in the letter, which referenced a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) notice posted at Vanleigh’s facilities in Burnsville, Miss.

“I, along with our team, loyal customers, dealer network and supplier partners have invested countless hours and tremendous energy over the years to help make Vanleigh a prominent luxury fifth-wheel brand in the marketplace,” Tiffin continued. “Nevertheless, market realities coupled with dealer calls for us to focus on our core business of motorized product offerings have led us to the conclusion that we must shift course and streamline our business.”

Tiffin went on to state that the company, a division of Elkhart, Ind.-based THOR Industries Inc., will continue to provide warranty and customer support for owners of Vanleigh products. Likewise, Tiffin said the company will also provide resources, in conjunction with state agencies, to assist Vanleigh employees impacted by this announcement.

“Tiffin continues to be a family-run company with more than a 50-year history of building world-class recreational vehicles,” Tiffin stated. “We are dedicated to diversifying our motorized product offering to become the RV industry’s premier full-line motorized OEM. Moreover, we’re committed to achieving this vision with the help of our local southern communities like Red Bay, Ala.; Belmont, Miss, and Winfield, Ala. We are confident the tough choices we are making are necessary to successfully support our customers, team members, business partners and local communities for many years to come.”
