Thor Makes Starlink Standard on All Airstreams and Other RV Models

Thor Industries has announced a new partnership with Starlink to bring high-speed, low-latency satellite internet to select RV models. Those include all 2023 Airstream trailers and a selection of other vehicles under the Entegra Coach, Jayco, and Tiffin sub-brands.

This marks the first collaboration between an RV manufacturer and the satellite internet provider. According to the agreement, Thor will offer Starlink’s flat, high-performance satellite receiver as an optional add-on to some of its motorhomes and travel trailers. Installation will be completed at the factory, enabling fast, reliable internet connections even while those vehicles are in motion.

Starlink has made waves in the satellite internet space over the past year, offering high-speed connections reaching up to 200 Mbps even in remote locations. In May of 2022, the company announced a subscription option for RVers, allowing subscribers to use the service while on the go. Then in the fall, the FCC granted approval for Starlink to operate while a vehicle is in motion, giving it a leg up over most of the competition.

Currently, Starlink service costs $110/month with an additional $25/monthly “portability fee” for use while RVing. The standard equipment—which includes a satellite dish, cables, and a Wi-Fi router—has a one time fee of $599. The more sophisticated high-performance flat receiver—which enables use while a vehicle is in motion—is priced at $2500. Customers who purchase the optional upgrade from Thor will receive a month of complimentary service.

“This agreement is a big step toward providing constant internet connection for RVers everywhere,” said Thor Industries President and CEO Bob Martin in a press release. “Whether for work, staying in touch with family and friends, or streaming entertainment, a reliable internet connection is a must-have for today’s RVer. Starlink will help Thor elevate our RV owners’ experiences and create yet another important point of differentiation for the Thor family of companies.”

“Creating an RV experience where reliable internet connectivity can be available to RVers everywhere is incredibly important,” Thor Chief Operating Officer Todd Woelfer adds. “Bringing this innovation to the market will reshape the RV experience and lift up the global RV industry.”

The Starlink satellite receiver upgrade is available now for new RV buyers. For more information, visit the Airstream, Entegra Coaches, Jayco, and Tiffin websites.
