This Generic-Looking Box Truck is Actually a Plush RV
If you’re a fan of stealthy custom conversion campers, you’ll want to check out the latest project from Epic Skoolies. The Spokane, Washington-based company has earned a reputation for creating unique and fun renovation projects that turn vans, school buses, and other vehicles into luxury motorhomes. But in this case, the goal was to take a rather innocuous box truck and make it into an RV that could go unnoticed in parking lots and along busy city streets.
Built on a Ford E-450 platform, the box truck offers a lot of interior floorspace. This allowed the Epic Skoolies team to let their imaginations run wild, creating an upscale living area with plenty of luxurious amenities. Their only stipulation was to leave the vehicle’s exterior completely unchanged. In this case, that meant keeping the generic white paint job and not altering the cargo box by adding windows or other discerning features.
The result is a stealth RV that doesn’t give even the slightest hint at the features hidden inside. These include a kitchen equipped with a residential-style refrigerator, a propane-powered stove, a microwave oven, and a custom black penny-tiled backsplash. Two large couches that convert to full-size beds serve as the living area and bedroom, while a 32″ LCD TV pairs with JBL speakers for a premium entertainment experience. Meanwhile, the bathroom includes a porta-potty and one of the nicest showers you’ll ever see in an RV.
The box truck’s floors were upgraded to vinyl tile, and the ceilings were replaced with tongue and groove pine wood. A skylight provides natural light during the day, while multicolored LED lighting sets the mood after dark. Epic Skoolies also added an HVAC system to control the interior temperature, along with a 20-gallon propane tank, 75-gallon fresh water tank, and a 50-gallon gray water tank for use while living off the grid.
The video above takes us on a tour of the truck, giving us a better sense of what it looks like inside. The goal was to create an RV that could park on a city street without drawing any attention from anyone passing by while still creating a luxury experience inside. From the looks of things, it seems like they succeeded.
