A caiman enjoying his lunch became lunch real fast when a jaguar attacked it in the blink of an eye. Someone was there to see it in real life and caught the incredible sequence of events on video. The fish/caiman/jaguar showdown happened in the Pantanal, a region in South America that encompasses a massive tropical wetland. The scene proves that unless you’re a jag at the top of the food chain, you should never forget let your guard down—even if you have a big mouth full of sharp teeth.

“Have you ever seen a jaguar eating a caiman eating a fish???” wrote Journey With Jaguars in an Instagram post sharing the video. “Unbelievable sighting by the @journey_with_jaguars team. @ycopantanal was in the best position as always to film for the team!”

Perhaps the most incredible part of the video is just how quickly the jaguar appears and then nabs the caiman out of the water. The caiman was even facing the direction from which the jaguar attacked, and it still couldn’t react fast enough.
