Study Shows Elkhart, Ind., in Top 20 Metros for Manufacturing – RVBusiness – Breaking RV Industry News
OVERLAND PARK Kan. – CommercialSearch, a commercial real estate listings solution where users can browse all commercial property types and easily search or post listings across all major U.S. markets has just published a new study.
The study compares the country’s 100 largest metropolitan statistical areas by total industrial manufacturing space based on three sets of indicators – manufacturing space inventory, manufacturing indicators and costs, and logistics infrastructure. The 20 best performers showing the most promise amid the resurgence of manufacturing were highlighted.
Elkhart, Ind., ranked 12th among the top 20 U.S. metros for manufacturing with a total of 32.9 points.
- Manufacturing space accounted for 68.9% of industrial space in Elkhart, which was the largest share of market among the ranking.
- The metro has the 2nd-lowest average asking rent for industrial space in the entire top 20 – $4.9 per square foot.
- Indiana’s railway infrastructure supports Elkhart’s manufacturing industry, earning the city the 5th-highest railway density score in the top 20. Indiana has 110 miles of railways per 1,000 square miles of the state’s surface area.
- Elkhart has the 6th-largest share of modern manufacturing stock out of its total with 18.6% of its total manufacturing space being taken up by properties completed starting January 1st, 2000.
- At a regional level, Midwestern metros made up half of the top 20’s entries.
- At a national level, the podium was shared by Dallas at #1, Chicago at #2 and Phoenix at #3.
