SSI: Retail RV Sales at 380,658 for 2023, Down 15.5% YOY – RVBusiness – Breaking RV Industry News
There were 380,658 retail registrations of RVs in 2023, which is a decrease of 15.5%, or 69,663 units, compared to the 450,321 total in 2022, according to Statistical Surveys Inc., the Grand Rapids, Mich.-based subsidiary of Trader Interactive that compiles retail sales and consumer demographic data for the RV and other industries.
The 380,658 figure also means there were 67,484 more retail sales in 2023 compared to the 313,174 wholesale shipments, as compiled by the RV Industry Association (RVIA). This strongly supports the widely held notion that the industry was working through excess dealer inventory through all of last year.
In looking at the monthly figures, there were 15,981 retail sales in December 2023, which is a 9% decrease versus the 17,653 registrations tallied in December 2022.
UNITED STATES
• Travel Trailers – 9,840 in December 2023 (11,033 in December 2022; a 10.8% decrease). Market share leaders: THOR Industries (38.9%), Forest River Inc. (35.2%), Grand Design RV Co. (8.1%).

• Park Models – 131 (157; -16.6%). Market share leaders: Skyline Champion (29.0%), Cavco Industries (23.7%), Kropf Mfg. Co. Inc. (12.2%).
• Class A – 451 (557; -19.0%). Market share leaders: THOR (51.4%), Forest River (15.3%), Newmar Corp. (14.9%).
• Class C – 971 (1,040; -6.6%). Market share leaders: THOR (49.1%), Forest River (29.4%), Winnebago Motorized (7.9%).
