SSI: Retail Registrations Down 17.3% in March, 12.8% in Q1 – RVBusiness – Breaking RV Industry News
Retail RV registrations for March 2024 were down 17.3% year-over-year, going from 37,586 last year to 31,066 this year, according to Statistical Surveys Inc., the Grand rapids, Mich.-based subsidiary of Trader Interactive that compiles retail and consumer data for the RV industry.
Year-to-date, there has been 74,192 retail registrations through the first quarter of this year, which is 12.8% less than the 85,975 figure over the same period in 2023.
For comparison, there were 32,243 wholesale shipments in March 2024 and 85,941 units through the first quarter, according to the RV Industry Association (RVIA).
United States
• Travel Trailers – 19,567 retail registrations in March 2024 (vs. 23,735 in March 2023; a 17.6% decrease). Market share leaders: THOR Industries (39.6%), Forest River Inc. (40.3%), Grand Design RV Co. (6.6%).
• Fifth-Wheels – 5,020 (6,003; -16.4%). Market share leaders: THOR (41%), Forest River (26.9%), Grand Design (16.3%).
• Camping Trailers – 438 (629; -30.4%). Market share leaders: Forest River (66%), Aliner (16.7%), Jumping Jack Trailers (3.4%).
• Park Models – 126 (244; -48.4%). Market share leaders: Skyline Champion (40.5%), Cavco Industries (18.3%), Kropf Mfg. Co. Inc. (17.5%).
• Class A – 696 (1,155; -39.7%). Market share leaders: THOR (48%), Forest River (20.3%), REV Recreation Group (14.9%).
• Class C– 1,774 (1,904; -6.8%). Market share leaders: THOR (50.5%), Forest River (25.6%), Winnebago Motorized (11.1%).
• Class B – 822 (1,223; -32.8%). Market share leaders: THOR (37.2%), Winnebago (25.7%), Forest River (8.9%).
