SSI: Retail Registrations at 37,523 in May, Down 16.2% YOY – RVBusiness – Breaking RV Industry News

RV Business

There were 37,523 retail registrations recorded in May 2024, which is a 16.2% decline compared to the 44,787 total in May 2023, according to Statistical Surveys Inc., the Grand Rapids, Mich.-based sub subsidiary of Trader Interactive that monitors retail and consumer data for the RV industry.

Year to date, there have been 150,945 retail registrations in 2024, which is a 10.4% decrease versus the 168,519 total for the same period in 2023.

For comparison, the RV Industry Association (RVIA) reported 33,150 wholesale shipments in May 2024 and 153,288 units shipped year to date.

UNITED STATES

Travel Trailers – 23,203 in May 2024 (vs. 26,367 in May 2023; a 12.0% decline). Market share leaders: Forest River Inc. (40.8%), THOR Industries Inc. (40.2%), Grand Design RV Co. (6.6%).
Fifth-Wheels – 5,364 (6,375; -15.9%). Market share leaders: THOR (40.1%), Forest River (28.6%), Grand Design (14.4%).
Camping Trailers – 513 (727; -29.4%). Market share leaders: Forest River (63.0%), Aliner (16.2%), Jumping Jack Trailers (4.9%).
Park Models – 193 (338; -42.9%). Market share leaders: Skyline Champion (25.4%), Kropf Mfg.Co. Inc. (19.7%), Cavco Industries (18.1%).
Class A – 708 (885; -20.0%). Market share leaders: THOR (47.7%), Forest River (16.8%), REV Recreation Group (16.1%).
Class C – 1,784 (2,285; -21.9%). Market share leaders: THOR (49.2%), Forest River (24.9%), Winnebago Motorized (11.6%).
Class B – 878 (1,251; -29.8%). Market share leaders: THOR (41.5%), Winnebago Motorized (28.0%), REV Recreation Group (7.6%).
