SSI: 28,016 Retail Registrations in October; a 23.2% Decline

There were 28,016 retail registrations in October 2022, a 23.2% decrease compared to the 36,3483 units last October, according to Statistical Surveys Inc., the Grand Rapids, Mich.-based company that tracks retail and consumer data for the RV industry.

Year-to-date, there have been 406,163 retail registrations, which is off 21.6% compared to the 518,358 units posted during the same period a year ago.

For reference, the RV Industry Association (RVIA) reported that total RV shipments in October was 32,652 units and 448,246 wholesale shipments year-to-date.

UNITED STATES

Travel Trailers: 17,194 retail registrations in October 2022 (22,315 in 2021; -22.9% difference). Market share leaders: THOR Industries (41.4%), Forest River Inc. (36.1%), Grand Design RV Co. (7.4%).
Fifth-Wheels: 4,665 (7,298; -36.1%). Market share leaders: THOR (40.9%), Forest River (29.6%), Grand Design (19.0%).
Camping Trailers: 403 (442; -98.8%). Market share leaders: Forest River (50.1%), Aliner 19.1%), SylvanSport LLC (7.7%).
