SSI: 2024 Retail Sales Start on a Down Note in January – RVBusiness – Breaking RV Industry News
The year started with a 19.2% year-over-year decline in RV retail sales. There were 17,323 retail registrations of RVs in January 2024, which is 4,129 units less than the 21,452 units reported last January, according to Statistical Surveys Inc. (SSI), the Grand Rapids, Mich.-based subsidiary of Trader Interactive that tracks retail and consumer data for the RV industry.
For context, the 17,323 retail RV registrations is 5,351 units less than the 22,674 wholesale shipments reported by the RV Industry Association in January.
United States
• Travel Trailers – 10,782 retail registrations in January 2024 (vs. 13,621 January 2023; a 20.8% decrease). Market share leaders: THOR Industries Inc. (40.5%), Forest River Inc. (36.7%), Grand Design RV Co. (7.4%).
