Spirit Lake man identified as victim of Saturday’s hunting incident at Iowa wildlife area – Outdoor News
MILFORD — Joseph Salmon, 18, of Spirit Lake, Iowa, was injured Saturday morning while waterfowl hunting along the shore of a slough at the Spring Run Wildlife Area, in Dickinson County.
The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Department received a report of a gunshot injury around 8:17 a.m., on Oct. 21. Salmon was located, then airlifted to Avera Medical Center, in Sioux Falls, S.D., where his condition remains unknown.
The incident remains under investigation by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Law Enforcement Bureau.
The Iowa DNR, the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Department, Milford Police Department, Milford Fire Department, Arnolds Park Fire/Rescue, and Lakes Regional Hospital responded to the incident. The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Department and the Iowa State Patrol assisted in the investigation.
The area where the incident occurred has been reopened.
