‘Snowbirds & RV Travelers’ Looks at Southern Destinations

RVing is all About the Details

Thoughts of spending the entire winter at a snowbird destination may create visions of enjoying comfortable weather, walking along sandy beaches, and feeling refreshing cool breezes off the ocean.

Once you arrive at your final southern destination and all of these elements become a reality, there are ways to enhance your trip. Even if you have done your research, further understanding an area can simply lead to new opportunities and much more enjoyment.

An excellent source of information can be found right at the RV resort. Planning on browsing one of the local farmer’s markets or arranging a night out on the town? Park staff are very knowledgeable and can provide unbiased opinions about preferred choices and what to expect.

Visitor centres, too, should be at the top of your list. Expert staff can answer all of your questions and provide updated details on what to see and experience. This is especially important given new businesses may have opened (or closed) since COVID-19. They may also suggest taking excursions unique to the region like whale-watching tours or hiring a fishing charter.

If you’re staying in a national or state park, service employees are ‘fountains of knowledge’ of the area. They can lend insight about the best hiking trails for your skill level, where to go for a particular activity, and inform you of conditions and closures within the park.

Better yet, don’t be afraid to ask other RVers. They’ll be more than happy to give you an honest opinion and/or other options to check out, which can often lead to new experiences so you can make the most of your time at a southern destination this winter.
