RVIA to Host June 25 Webinar on EPA’s Recent PFAS Rulings – RVBusiness – Breaking RV Industry News
The RV Industry Association (RVIA) will be hosting an informative webinar at 3 p.m., June 25 on the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) latest ruling regarding PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) featuring experts Adam Troutwine and Jake Levin from the Association’s federal lobbying firm Polsinelli.
In October 2023, the EPA finalized two rules pertaining to PFAS, commonly referred to as “forever chemicals,” which requires broad record-keeping and reporting requirements to the federal government. Companies are responsible for these requirements for manufacturing or importing products with PFAS going back to Jan. 1, 2011. This reporting is due summer of 2025.
- PFAS can be found in many innocuous items found in an RV including, but not limited to: carpets/rugs, upholstery, fabric treatments, cleaning products and adhesives.
- Products with added PFAS typically receive the benefits of fire, water, oil, or friction resistance. Manufacturers who are directly importing materials from overseas are responsible for providing specific information to the federal government by next year.
During the June 25 webinar, experts Troutwine and Levin will cover:
- Brief overview of new PFAS Rulemakings
- Important deadline and information on new PFAS rulemakings relating to the RV industry and how to comply
- Potential rulemakings to come
- Draft risk evaluation
