In the wake of unprecedented government funding to reimagine the EV charging landscape, the RV Industry Association’s (RVIA) Government Affairs team recently launched lobbying efforts to ensure funding plans account for RVs and other medium and heavy-duty vehicles, according to an RVIA News & Insights report. This summer, the RV Industry Association released a report and financial analysis making the case for federal funding to be used to install pull-through electric vehicle charging stations to meet the needs of RVers today and well into the future.

On Wednesday, Oct. 4, RV Industry Association Vice President of Government Affairs Jason Rano provided updates on the EV Charging Infrastructure Initiative and the Government Affairs team’s ongoing education and advocacy efforts for the EV Charging Infrastructure Initiative.

Since the release of the EV charging report, the team has:

  • Hired a national lobbying firm with charging expertise
  • Engaged ~25 states
  • Talked with DOTs and other decision-makers to encourage incentivization of pull-through charging
  • Engaged site hosts, trade associations, individual companies and more to educate about the need for pull-through charging and benefits
  • Focused on the RV industry but discussed the value to other medium and heavy-duty industries as well

Going forward, the Government Affairs team will be exploring partnerships to deploy pull-through charging, continuing engagement at the state level and engaging further with trade associations and individual companies.
