Analyzing the Top RV Makes and Models YTD 2023

Our results clearly show that consumers have a strong interest in large, spacious motorhomes, such as Class A RVs, travel trailers and fifth-wheels. Keeping a wide selection of brands and big rigs at your dealership will allow you to have more to offer your customers.

While many RVers are gearing up for the peak summer season by planning their vacations, many people are still on the hunt for their perfect RV. So, what makes and models are the most popular?

We at RV Trader, an online marketplace for buying and selling RVs, recently analyzed the top-searched RV makes and models on our website in 2023. This valuable data can be used to learn which RV makes and models should be kept in stock to keep up with consumer demand for the remainder of the year.

Top RV Makes

Among RV Trader’s marketplace inventory, Forest River RVs earned the most Search Result Page Impressions (SRPIs) and Vehicle Destination Page Impressions (VDPs). With 345 million SRPIs and 9.7 million VDPs, respectively, they clocked in almost 200 million more SRPIs than the next most-searched make, THOR Industries. Forest River offers a wide variety of RV models that can meet most consumers’ recreational needs. From toy haulers and fifth-wheels to travel trailers and tent campers, they have affordable options for every budget.

THOR was the second most-searched make on RV Trader’s marketplace, with 155 million SRPIs and 4.3 million VDPs. This make also offers a large selection of towable and drivable RV models with a wide array of interior layouts and features.

Winnebago was right behind THOR, securely in third place, with 151 million SRPIs and 4.8 million VDPs. Winnebago RVs are lauded by consumers for their superior quality and durability. Winnebagos are known to hold up after years of use, so they remain a popular choice for RV enthusiasts.

These top three most-searched makes also happen to be the top three brands that dominate the RV industry. Keeping Forest River, THOR, and Winnebago RVs in stock at your dealership will ensure that your customers have plenty of customizable, budget-friendly options.

Top RV Models

The Newmar Dutch Star, owned by Winnebago, came in first as the most-searched RV model on the RV Trader marketplace with 19 million SRPIs and 539,000 VDPs. This Class A diesel coach ranges from 37 to 43 feet in length and offers 12 different floorplans. Despite not being included in the “luxury” Newmar line, the Dutch Star still has dozens of deluxe amenities.

The Grand Design Reflection, also owned by Winnebago, came in as the second most-searched RV model with 17 million SRPIs and 406,000 VDPs. This brand combines value, luxury, and towability in an aesthetic package. With fully laminated walls and double insulated flooring and roofing, the Grand Design Reflection is durable, high-quality and in-demand.

The Tiffin Phaeton, owned by THOR, is another popular Class A diesel motorhome. With 16 million SRPIs and 550,000 VDPs, this model was our third most-searched RV on the RV Trader marketplace this year. Available with a variety of finishes and floor plans, the Tiffin Phaeton is elegant, spacious, and customizable down to the smallest details.

Tying in fourth, fifth and sixth place with 15 million SRPIs each were the Grand Design Solitude (fifth-wheel), Winnebago Solis (Class B), and Keystone Montana (fifth-wheel).

Our results clearly show that consumers have a strong interest in large, spacious motorhomes, such as Class A RVs, travel trailers and fifth-wheels. Keeping a wide selection of brands and big rigs at your dealership will allow you to have more to offer your customers. Affordability is also important to consumers, so stocking an assortment of budget-friendly RVs is a smart move.

Using this data, you can better stock your inventory to account for consumer demand throughout the remainder of 2023 and beyond.
