RV News: Wingamm Oasi 540.1 Camper Van is Coming Soon, EcoFlow Expands Charging Capabilities, and More
Happy Friday, and welcome to another edition of our weekly round-up of the latest news from the RV and camping industry. Before we head off into the weekend, here are a few things that went down over the past few days.
- Wingamm USA’s Oasi 540.1 Class B is Almost Ready: Wingamm USA—the North American distribution partner for Wingamm.Group—says its Oasi 540.1 Class B camper van is nearing release. In a press release sent out a few days back, the company touted the popularity of the new RV by sharing stats that indicate it is the third most searched Class B model on the internet. That seems to indicate there is pent-up demand—or at least wide interest—for the motorhome despite it not being on sale just yet. Not to worry, though; Wingamm says an announcement on availability is coming soon.
- EcoFlow Launches New Multifunctional Alternator Charger: This week, EcoFlow—a company best known for its portable and home energy storage solutions—announced a new product designed to keep us charged up on the go. The brand expanded its On-the-Road Power Solutions line with the addition of its 800W Alternator Charger. This device includes a charging mode to recharge power stations in your vehicle, a reverse charging mode to send a charge to your vehicle’s battery, and a battery maintenance mode to extend a vehicle’s battery life with a lower electrical current. The unit costs $599 and goes on sale on May 24, although customers can save up to 35% through June 24 by bundling the Alternator Charger with an EcoFlow Delta Series portable power station. They’ll even throw in a complimentary solar panel. Visit EcoFlow’s website for more info.
- Overland Expo Takes Place This Weekend: One of the biggest events on the annual overlanding calendar takes place this weekend when thousands of off-road camping enthusiasts descend on Flagstaff, AZ, for Overland Expo West. More than 400 vendors and outdoor brands will be on hand, and attendees will get the chance to attend seminars, demos, and fireside chats to learn more about the overlanding phenomenon. Wildsam magazine and RV.com will be there, so watch for updates and reports on our findings.
- Hardsider Rooftop Tents Look Like the Future: Rooftop tents are a popular way to transform a pickup truck or SUV into a camper, providing a comfortable and safe alternative to a tent. Some of the most intriguing of these options come from a company called Hardsider, which offers the HardCamp and HardTent models made specifically for trucks and SUVs, respectively. What helps set these options apart from most of the competition are their sleek designs and rigid form factors that make them warmer, drier, and quieter than models with fabric walls. A custom sleep system adds additional comfort and airflow, too, truly making these rooftop tents stand out from the crowd.
- The Dyrt Announces 2024 Best Places to Camp Regional Awards: The Dyrt has been an endless supply of camping-related stats since the release of its 2024 Camping Report. But this week, the online campground discovery site/app announced something new—its best places to camp in 2024 regional award winners. The winners for this honor were selected based on reviews and ratings from the Dyrt community with the results broken down into areas across the US. Those areas include the Pacific, Mountain, Central, Midwest, Northeast, and Southeast regions. The top ten campgrounds in those places earn a mention, along with details on pricing, the number of campsites available, whether RV sites are included, and more. Check out all the winners here.
- Roamly and Outdoorsy Offer Campers a Weather Guarantee: Digital insurance platform Roamly has partnered with Sensible Weather to give campers a weather guarantee when booking their RV rentals through the Outdoorsy online platform and app. The collaboration is designed to give RV renters peace of mind by offering proactive reimbursements when their travel plans and camping experiences are impacted by unexpected and undesirable weather conditions. Outdoorsy customers can select a “Weather Gurantee” option when making their reservation, which adds a nominal fee, but provides coverage should weather conditions impact their plans. Find out more here.
That’s all for this week. Join us again next Friday for another recap of the latest happenings from within the RV industry.
