RV News Weekly Round-Up (September 8, 2023)

Each week there is far more news from the RV and travel industry than we have time to cover. To make up for that, every Friday, we offer a roundup of the most interesting and important stories that you may have missed over the past seven days. Here’s what you need to know:

  • Roadtrek Revives Westfalia Brand for North America: Westfalia camper vans have always held a special place in the hearts of RVers. The compact vehicles initially made a splash in the 1960s and 70s but remained extremely popular right up until Volkswagen pulled the plug on the tiny campers in 1992. Now, a Canadian company called Roadtrek is preparing to revive the Westfalia brand with plans to relaunch in North America next year. Expect to hear more when the first prototype is unveiled later this month.
  • Adventurer Manufacturing Brings Upgrades to 2024 Truck Campers: The 2024 Scout truck campers from Adventurer Manufacturing are getting some serious upgrades, including adding rooftop tents—courtesy of Go Fast Campers—to its Kenai and Olympic models. Other options include a newly redesigned awning from Kammock, standardized interior ceiling brackets, and larger cabinets to accommodate alternate power systems. • Keystone Launching “Classics Collection” for Budget-Conscious Buyers:  Ahead of next week’s Hershey RV Show, Keystone has announced a major push into the budget-friendly towables market. The new models will be spread out across the company’s Hideout, Springdale, Arcadia, and Passport lines. One of the highlights is a new 7000 lbs. toy hauler with a price tag that starts below $40k. Check out the entire Classics Collection on the Keystone website.
  • BLM Reveals Strategic Plan for 21st-Century Outdoor Recreation: The Bureau of Land Management released an important document this week, outlining its plans for managing outdoor recreation in the years ahead. The document, which can be found here, shares a blueprint for the BLM to diversify its sources of funding, make strategic partnerships, create a culture of inclusion, and expand access to outdoor spaces.
  • RV Unplugged Returns for a Second Season: RV Unplugged—the RV-focused reality show—is returning for a second season. This week, the producers of the show confirmed its return in the summer of 2024 thanks to a collaboration with RVTV. The show has been a hit with veteran RVers, thanks to its inside look at the camping lifestyle. Season 1 episodes are coming to RVTV on September 25.
  • Leisure Travel Vans Salutes 2023 Triple Diamond Dealers: Class C RV specialists Leisure Travel Vans (LTV) has announced the 2023 recipients of its Triple Diamond Dealer awards. The program recognizes the dealers who receive the highest customer satisfaction levels, with eight LTV partners getting the nod this year.
