RV News: nuCamp Revives the Cirrus 920, Grand Design Shares Lineage Specs, and Starlink Mini is Now Available
Another week has come and gone, with plenty of news from the RV and camping industry to share. Grab your favorite beverage and get comfortable; these are the new stories you need to know from this past week:
- nuCamp Revives Cirrus 920 Truck Camper: The Cirrus 920 truck camper from nuCamp was a fan favorite for years, but the company stopped producing it a while back. Now, this venerable model has returned to the line-up with some decided modern conveniences. Our friends over at Auto Evolution do a good job of recapping everything new about this model, but a few features of note include 930W of solar panels connected to an 810Ah Lithium battery bank, an Alde heating/hot water system, and a roof-mounted Truma Aventa A/C unit. - Grand Design Reveals More Details on First Motorized RV: Since teasing its first motorized RV back in May, Grand Design has finally started to share more information about its highly anticipated vehicle. The Class C Lineage promises to be an impressive vehicle, although so far, we don’t know all that much about it. That changed somewhat this week when the RV manufacturer updated its website to include mock-up images of eight available color schemes for the coach. It also posted a rundown of important specs like length (25′ 8″, GVWR (12,125 lbs), and the size of its holding tanks (roughly 34 gallons each). It was also revealed that it will come with a Headrest Safe as standard equipment, but the MSRP is still listed as “coming soon.” The first floorplan—the 25FW—can also be viewed here.
- Grand Design Introduces Transferable Warranties: Speaking of Grand Design, the company also made headlines this week for updating the terms of its warranties. The length of its warranties remain unchanged, with the company offering a 1-year base warranty, along with 3-year structural and 5-year frame coverage. In the past, the 1-year base was fully transferable if you sold your vehicle before it expired. Now, that same coverage extends to the structure and frame, too. That’s a very strong commitment to quality from the brand.

- Aquafire Shows Off Intriguing Fireplace Concept for RVs: While electric fireplaces are a popular amenity in RVs these days, they’re no substitute for the real thing. But we all know having an actual fire in our rigs isn’t a viable option either. This week, a company called Aquafire showed off a concept for a new type of RV fireplace—one that produces realistic-looking flames but no heat. The system uses LED lighting and water vapor to create the illusion of flames while using minimal resources and requiring very little maintenance. - The Dyrt Shares To 10 Hardest to Book US Campgrounds: Campground discovery site The Dyrt says that 45.5% of campers have difficulty booking a site to stay online. That number is up dramatically in recent years, in no small part becuase camping only continues to gain in popularity. To that end, the website shared a list of the campgrounds that are the most difficult to book at the moment, with a few surprising results. Some of the places that make the list include Colter Bay RV Park near Grand Teton National Park and Seven Points Campground at J. Percy Priest Lake near Nashville, TN. - Starlink Mini Now Available without Residential Service: A couple of weeks back, we noted that Starlink had released a new portable satellite internet receiver called the Mini. The device is so small it actually fits in a backpack, bringing high-speed connectivity to anywhere you care to wander. At the time, the new terminal required residential service, adding $30 to existing customer’s bills. Now, Starlink has dropped the requirement for residential service by introducing new roaming plans that start at $50/month. The Mini hardware is also more widely available with an MSRP of $599.
- Design Engineer Inc. Launches DIY Camper Van Insulation Kits: A company called Design Engineering, Inc. has announced a set of do-it-yourself insulation kits for top camper van platforms. Available in 12mm and 30mm thicknesses, the kits make it quick and easy to add warmth to a Class B RV, with the added bonus of dampening annoying sounds to create a more serene environment. The kits are available for the Mercedes Sprinter 144, 170, and EXT170 models, along with For Transit 148 WB High Cube EXT vehicles and Ram Promaster 159 WB High Cube. Pricing starts at $193.99.
