RV News: Grand Design Shows Off Lineage in NYC, the 10 Best Places to RV, and More
Another week has come and gone, and as usual, there is a lot happening in the RV and camping industry. Before heading off into the weekend, we have just enough time to catch up on all the important news from the past week. Here are a few things to have on your radar:
- Grand Design Unveils Class C Lineage in NYC: The highly anticipated Grand Design Lineage made its first public appearance last weekend in New York City. The company held a glamping event in NYC’s Bryant Park, where it showed off its first motorized vehicle alongside the new Reflection 100 fifth-wheel and Serenova travel trailer. Built on the Mercedes Sprinter platform, the Lineage features a king-size bed, an ultra-efficient and quiet air conditioner, a 12V refrigerator, and much more. - Alliance Debuts Delta Ultralight Series Travel Trailers: Looking for a lightweight travel trailer that doesn’t skimp on features and quality? Have a look at the just-announced Delta Ultralight Series from Alliance RV. Currently only available in the RK234 floorplan, this model offers some great features—like a queen-size bed, an open kitchen with a residential-style refrigerator, and copious amounts of storage—in a trailer with a dry weight of just 5,600 lbs. - What’s New with Leisure Travel Vans for 2025: It’s that time of the year when RV brands announce new models and changes coming for the next model year. This week, Leisure Travel Vans hopped on the bandwagon by announcing some exciting updates its Unity and Wonder models. Those include a new 270Ah lithium battery system, with the option to upgrade to 540Ah. The motorhomes also come with a 3000W inverter and 150A charger, a smart solar controller, a multiplex control system, and the highly efficient Truma Aventa air conditioner. - Thor Reveals 2025 Class C Updates, Too: Over the past two weeks, Thor has announced the changes and upgrades coming to its Class A and Class B motorhomes in 2025. This week—right on schedule—it announced the updates coming to its Class C lineup. Those include incorporating SmoothTech ride enhancements in Four Winds, Chateau, Quantum, Echelon, and Outlaw models and a Touch N’ Go control system in the Four Winds, Chateau, and Outlaw RVs. All gas-powered motorhomes now come with 100W solar from the factory, while all Super C’s get a Winegard Connect 5G system. For further details, check out this post from RV Business.
- The Dyrt Picks the 10 Best Places to RV for 2024: Another week, another interesting factoid or list from The Dyrt. This week the campground discovery engine shares its list of the ten best places to go RVing in the US. Some of the top spots include Ruby’s Inn RV Park and Campground in Utah, Lake George RV Park in New York, and Landry Vineyards Grape Escape RV Spots in Louisiana. - Harvest Hosts is Looking for a CRO—Chief Retirement Officer: The search is on! Harvest Hosts is looking to hire someone, only to have them retire. The company is looking for a CRO (Chief Retirement Officer) who is willing to wander the country, stay at HH locations, and extol the virtues of the brand. Candidates must be at least 30 years old, have a valid US driver’s license, and have a love for road trips. The compensation package includes a daily stipend to cover all expenses, free access to over 5,000 Harvest Host locations, and the use of a fully furnished towable RV for one year. - KOA Says a Third of Campers are Glampers: The latest Camping & Outdoor Hospitality Report from Kampgrounds of America examines one of the fastest-growing trends in the market—glamping. According to its latest survey, KOA found that 34% of respondents indicated they went glamping in 2024. Of those, 24% said they stayed at glamping-specific resorts, while another 42% indicated they visited locations that offered both traditional and upscale camping options.
- Suburban Griddles Get an LP Upgrade: Suburban—a subsidiary of Airxcel—released a super-handy upgrade to its 18″ and 23″ griddles this week. The company announced an adapter that allows for the use of 1 lb. propane canisters, allowing those griddles to be used independently of an RV. This added flexibility makes moving the single-burner 18″ and double-burner 23″ models to other locations in the campsite or makes them more useful while car camping, tailgating, or even in the backyard.
- Coleman-Mach Expands Air Conditioning Line: Coleman-Mach, which also happens to be a subsidiary of Airxcel, added a new A/C unit to its catalog this week. The company announced a new 48V rooftop model with a 15,000 BTU rating. The unit has a softstart feature to assist with start-up and is designed to be more efficient, lessening the drain on RV batteries. The low-profile air conditioner is aimed squarely at the Class B and travel trailer market. Find out more here.
- Winegard Launches ‘RV Halo Rally’ Feature in Smartphone App: Winegard has added some fun new features to its smartphone app designed to control its Halo smart RV system. This week, the company added a slew of digital incentives that allow Halo owners to connect, explore, and gamify their use of the technology. The updates—which are set to go live on July 4—give members the opportunity to advance in ranks from “Scout” to “Explorer” or even “Expedition Expert.” They’ll also have the ability to collect custom badges and stickers, record their RV journies via a digital travel log, and more.
