RV Dealerships Unaffected by CDK Global’s DMS Shutdown – RVBusiness – Breaking RV Industry News

The dealer management system (DMS) shutdown currently affecting over 15,000 U.S. auto dealerships is not impacting RV dealers, officials said.

That’s because CDK Global, whose firm was subjected to a cyberattack last week resulting in the shutdown of its DMS, is a separate company from LightspeedDMS LLC, which provides its DMS solution to RV dealers.

“It is important to note that Lightspeed is a separate company,” said a spokeswoman for LightspeedDMS. “LightspeedDMS LLC, and our Dealer Management Solution called Lightspeed, is managed independently from CDK’s solutions. The operations and the services we provide to our RV, marine, powersports, trailer, golf, and OPE dealerships remain fully operational.

“RV dealers using Lightspeed DMS have not been impacted by the CDK cyber incident,” she told RVBusiness.

LightspeedDMS LLC was formed as a standalone business in 2023. This was after ADP Lightspeed became part of a bigger entity in 2014, changing its name to “CDK Global Recreation” as the Dealer Services portion of ADP spun off into a new corporation now known as CDK Global Inc.

Soon after, company officials determined that there was “enough uniqueness to the market, customers and products that the decision was made to spin off the Dealer Services division. However, the honeymoon is over and Lightspeed is going back to a standalone entity.”

“We are thrilled to share with you that going forward, the Lightspeed DMS business unit of CDK Global will operate as a standalone business: Lightspeed DMS LLC,” officials said at the time.

CDK Global has been forced to shut down its DMS system for auto retailers after it was the victim of a cyberattack last week. Over 15,000 automotive dealer locations across North America are affected.
