ORR’s Together Outdoors Featured at South by Southwest – RVBusiness – Breaking RV Industry News
WASHIGNTON, D.C. – The Outdoor Recreation Roundtable’s (ORR) Together Outdoors (TO) and the Michigan Outdoor Recreation Industry Office were featured at the South by Southwest Conference & Festival (SXSW) in Austin, Texas, as part of Outdoor Day at Midwest House.
The full day of programming showcased the outdoor recreation industry and featured global brands, thought leaders, investors, innovators, and entrepreneurs, according to a release.
ORR Senior Program Director and TO Lead Ambreen Tariq participated in a panel presented by ORR’s Together Outdoors titled, “Building an Outdoors Where We All Can Thrive,” along with Lesford Duncan of the Outdoor Foundation, Alex Bailey of Black Outside, and Stacy Bare of Friends of Grand Rapids Parks.
“Outdoor Day at SXSW was a momentous opportunity for us to spotlight for the country how inherently innovative the spirit of our work is to grow our industry sustainably and bridge the gap between inclusivity and adventure,” said Ambreen Tariq, ORR Senior Program Director and Together Outdoors Lead. “I’m thrilled to join forces with trailblazers and creatives like my fellow panelists and others at this festival to share and explore innovative ideas around transforming the outdoor recreation industry into a more welcoming and accessible space for all.”
The Outdoor Recreation Roundtable is the nation’s leading coalition of outdoor recreation associations – including the RV Industry Association (RVIA), RV Dealers Association (RVDA) and OHI, formerly known as the National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds (ARVC) – representing the more than 110,000 outdoor businesses in the recreation economy and the full spectrum of outdoor-related activities. The most recent data from the U.S. Department of Commerce shows that outdoor recreation generated $1.1 trillion in economic output (2.2% of GDP), 5 million jobs and comprises 3.2% of U.S. employees.
Together Outdoors is an initiative administered by ORR that nurtures an environment where all people have access to welcoming outdoor recreation experiences. We pursue this work through engagement, partnership, and education across all segments of the outdoor community.
