This oasis is located in Northern Oregon, where even summer days can get chilly. And once the night rolls around, you’ll be grateful for a toasty place to unwind. And there are so many options to choose from, including the nearby Hot Lake Lodge, to pools within the RV park, to private soaking pools at select sites.

In addition to the titular hot springs, this RV resort also provides several amenities and activities for guests to enjoy. No matter which way you slice it, this is a great destination for your next road trip.

Overview

Grande Hot Springs Resort is located in La Grande, Oregon. It’s a fairly remote area, located between Pendleton and Baker City. Nearby smaller cities include Union, North Power, and Island City. But if you’re traveling along I-84, this resort will be right in your path.

No matter what time of year you’re stopping by, this RV park will be open for business. The main pools within the park are limited to a seasonal basis (usually April–October). But depending on the weather, they can sometimes open up as early as mid-March. Private hot pools are located at the two yurt sites and those are ready for use all year long.

The Hot Springs

The heat source for these pools come from the nearby Hot Lake Springs. At its origin, it measures in at 171 degrees Fahrenheit. That’s way too hot for anyone! Fortunately, it doesn’t stay that way.

From the original geothermal source, the water is then pumped to this RV resort. Finally, it’s separated into different pools, with temperatures that range from 92–104 degrees. Grande Hot Spring Resort also has its own geothermal well, which is much cooler at only 77 degrees. It’s regularly tested and is even safe enough to drink.

Hot spring water is extremely pleasant to relax in, but it may grant some additional health benefits as well. Certain minerals are dissolved in the hot water, including calcium, iron, potassium, magnesium, and more. If you don’t feel like drinking hot spring water, some of these can be absorbed through the skin as well.

Within the resort itself, they only use the heat from the hot spring to warm the water in the pools. If you want the real deal, you may need to venture into town. But whether you’re here for the minerals or not, lazing around in warm water is a sure-fire way to relax. Just be sure to drink a lot of water so you don’t get dehydrated.

The Resort

By now, you’re probably sold on the hot springs. So now let’s move on to the resort itself. This RV park is scenic and well-equipped to help every guest have a pleasant stay. There are 100 RV sites to choose from, as well as two yurts, a cabin, and a handful of tent sites.

All sites are pull-through for your convenience. They each measure 90 feet long by 30 feet wide, so you should have plenty of room to align your rig.

Strips of trees, grass, and other landscaped features separate the sites as well, adding a bit of greenery to your surroundings. To complete the picture, a canal winds around the entire park, connecting Hot Lake to a lovely fishing pond.

Full hookups are provided at each RV site. Electrical hookups vary, with 35 sites offering 50-amp service, and the remaining 65 offering 35-amp service. Be sure to call ahead if you need one of the higher-amp sites for your rig.

As far as pricing goes, Grande Hot Springs Resort is actually quite affordable. You might think that an RV park with its own hot spring would cost an arm and a leg. But on the contrary, it doesn’t even reach a triple-digit price. Most campers reported a price of $50–$70 per night. Considering the value you get, that’s quite a bargain!

Reviews

But all the good advertising in the world doesn’t make any difference unless there’s some positive word-of-mouth to back it up. And Grande Hot Springs Resort has plenty of rave reviews to solidify its reputation!

On RV LIFE Campgrounds, this park scored a whopping 9.1/10, easily ranking it as a top park in the state of Oregon. And that number isn’t a fluke either! More than 250 people left feedback and 93% of them gave it a score of “Good” or “Excellent.”

Visitors rave about how clean and quiet this park is. Many people also complimented the scenery of the area and how friendly the staff is. And of course, the hot springs are heavily featured in the reviews.

Honestly, it’s tough to find many drawbacks here. The only nitpicks were about the lack of shade during some times of the year. Some people also wished that the hot pools were a little bigger because everybody in the park wanted to enjoy them! But overall, the feedback was very positive.

Listening to other campers is often the best way to gauge whether or not a campground is worth visiting. So if you’re interested in learning what guests of Grande Hot Springs Resort have to say, check out the park page on RV LIFE Campgrounds. You’ll find photos, fun things to do in the area, and detailed breakdowns of various parts of the park.
