Officials Dedicate ‘Walorski Parkway’ in Elkhart Business Park
ELKHART, Ind. — A newly built road in the business park that holds the soon-to-be opened Amazon warehouse has officially been dedicated to the late Jackie Walorski, the Indiana Congresswoman who died in a head-on crash south of Wakarusa on Aug. 3. The accident also killed two members of her staff, Zachary Potts and Emma Thompson, and the Nappanee woman who was driving the other vehicle, Edith Schmucker, according to a report by The Elkhart Truth.
Dozens of local leaders, residents and family members of the Republican congresswoman stood to watch the unveiling of the sign during a dedication ceremony Thursday in the Elkhart East Industrial Park near C.R. 19 is Elkhart’s newest road, “Walorski Parkway.”
Suzie Weirick, president of the Elkhart County Board of Commissioners, said Walorski was a dedicated and fierce advocate for her constituents in Elkhart County and the 2nd District, which is why the commissioners agreed in December to name the road in Walorski’s honor.
