New Luxury Campsite Near Great Smoky Mountain National Park Aims to ‘Reinvent Roughing It’

Roamstead is a brand new luxury campground that has opened outside of Great Smoky Mountain National Park. The accommodations were founded after Shannon Connolly and her family went on a camping trip through Utah and Colorado’s National Parks, where they found themselves disappointed with glorified parking lots or dirty campgrounds without amenities.

As an attempt to bridge the gap between “traditional campgrounds” and “boutique hotels,” Roamstead is a place for new campers, with a view to “reinvent roughing it.”  Amenities at include a heated, saltwater pool, spa-style bathhouse, daily chocolate chip cookies, chef-prepared meals, cocktails, and regional beers. As well as offering tents, cabins, camper hookups, and yurts.
