‘Nature’s Most Skilled Napper’: Lazy Bear Lies Down, Licks Snow

Since most wild brown bears are still sleeping the winter away, the latest bear news comes from a rescue center that cares for orphaned animals that cannot be released into the wild. A “lazy” brown bear named Jenny that lives at New York’s Orphaned Wildlife Center (OWC) may not be partaking in winter sleep like her wild cousins, but she’s pretty close to it these days. A popular video online shows Jenny lying down on the snow-covered ground, barely staying awake to lick the snow.

“Here’s Jenny, the ultimate embodiment of bear laziness during the winter season,” wrote OWC in the YouTube video’s description. “Prepare to be amazed and possibly amused, as we witness nature’s most skilled napper in action.”
