National Park Service Announces Fee-Free Entry Days for 2025
Are you starting to plan your RV travels for 2025? Want to visit a few national parks along the way? If so, we have some good news for you. Last week, the National Park Service announced its fee-free days for the year ahead, offering visitors a chance to explore some of the best destinations and landscapes in the country without having to pay an entry fee. This makes some of the most iconic places in the US—like the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, and Yosemite—even more accessible to anyone who wants to go.
The Park Service’s fee-free days have become a tradition over the past decade or so, with many fans eagerly awaiting the announcement each December. And while those who follow these events closely can pretty well predict which specific days will include free entry, it is always nice to have them officially confirmed. For 2025, those dates include the following:
- Jan. 20 – Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
- April 19 – First day of National Park Week
- June 19 – Juneteenth National Independence Day
- Aug. 4 – Great American Outdoors Act signing day
- Sept. 27 – National Public Lands Day
- Nov. 11 – Veterans Day
On each of those dates, all 431 locations that are managed by the National Park Service—including all 63 national parks themselves—will not charge a fee for anyone who wants to enter their boundaries. It is important to note that many of those units don’t charge fees at any time of the year, making them attractive places to stop at any time. But places like Glacier National Park and Rocky Mountain National Park charge up to $35 depending on the type of vehicle you are driving.
Also, it is important to keep in mind that the most popular parks can be busy at any time of the year, but are often quite crowded on fee-free days. Be sure to plan ahead for your visit, make sure you don’t need an appointment to enter your park of choice, and give yourself plenty of time. Be prepared to wait at the entry gate, expect slowdowns on the busiest roads, and lines at the top attractions. Remember, patience is always a virtue.
That said, be sure to take advantage of these special days to celebrate our country and some of its most amazing locations.
Note: While the parks won’t charge an entry fee on the dates above in 2025, you’ll still need to pay for campsites, guided tours, and other services while visiting.
