Move It or Lose It: Grumpy Elephant Kicks Impala on Trail Cam

A trail cam set up at a watering hole in Kenya shows what happens when an impala won’t move out of an elephant’s space. In the video, an elephant slowly scoots closer to the impala, as if to say in warning, “hey, I’m here now.” The impala doesn’t quite get the hint, though, so the elephant decides to be a little bit more blunt. It delivers a very calculated kick, and the impala finally moves over.

“When you’ve got six tonnes of confidence and absolutely no time for impala indecision,” wrote Rhino Africa in an Instagram post sharing the funny footage. “Filmed at a 24/7 waterhole cam at ol Donyo Lodge, this elephant makes it clear: move it or lose it.”

The footage was captured by an Africam trail camera near the lodge. Africam originally shared the video on its YouTube page, calling the elephant bull “grumpy.” Elephants often share waterholes with other animals, including impalas, but that doesn’t mean they’re always in the mood to share.
