Mountain Lion Snags House Cat, Sets Neighborhood on Edge
A homeowner’s security camera caught a mountain lion walking by after snagging someone’s house cat, and the footage has set some central California residents on edge. ABC7 Bay Area News says the people in this Santa Cruz Mountains neighborhood have lost “multiple” pets to the mountain lion, but they don’t have a lot of options for scaring the predator away.

ABC7 says the homeowner, Sadie Huang, claims this mountain lion has been visiting her property for weeks, sometimes multiple times per night. Others in the area are afraid for their pets. Wildlife officials say there’s not much to be done when you live in a place where mountain lions also live, but folks can protect their pets by keeping them inside at night and by using outdoor lighting and fences to keep these predators away from their homes.
