EDWARDSBUFG, Mich. – “We are blessed with a lot of interest in our trailers right now and are going to keep our open house going through the first week of August,” Earl Williams, co-owner and co-founder of Modern Buggy RV told RVBusiness Wednesday morning as the company showcased its newest, 2024 Little Buggy and Big Buggy product lines at its location at 19475 U.S. 12 in Edwardsburg, Mich.

“The week has been great and we are very appreciative of those who have come by, and since everything is set up and ready to go, we just thought we would keep it going.” Added Williams. “We have a new prototype 12LRK Little Buggy with fireplace, TV, Blackstone Griddle, Camco 12V Cooler, and more. The Big Buggy enhancements are a larger refrigerator, more storage, a side mount spare tire, and many more new vendor items.”

The company is welcoming all its existing and future owners, current dealers and their sales teams, and those dealers interested in Modern Buggy who haven’t seen its trailers and may want to add a brand. The production facility on U.S. 12 is operating during the open house for those interested to see how its products are built.

According to the company, there will also be refreshments and snacks throughout the day. Those dealers who take the time to visit will be rewarded with a free dinner coupon, from 5 to 8 p.m. at one of William’s others businesses, the Flat Rock Grill in Edwardsburg. This offer has also been extended to August 4.

“We’ll have a VIP area set aside each night at the restaurant to show our appreciation for those taking the time to come on by,” said Williams, “and maybe even something special for new dealers who sign up.”

Scott Rhode, who assists in sales and product development for Modern Buggy through Field & Sports LLC, walked RVBusiness though the new lineup and features of the 2024 product offering.

“There will be two new models for 2024 as well as an axle-less, Timbren suspension option perfect for off road camping,” said Rhode. “We’ll be showcasing the Vixenite composite flooring and Azdel composite we use behind all the fiberglass including the roof.”

Inside the new 2024 Big Buggy model the headroom was a surprising six foot two inches with a ceiling crafted of high gloss fiberglass.

“The bed width, because this is an 80-inch wide trailer, has a 78 inch length, usually 74 inches in other trailers,” explained Rhode. “To create even more room we went to a Fogatti tankless water heater eliminating the tank and added drawers to that area. This also saves us about 70 pounds on our overall weight.”

Other interior features of note on the 17-foot Big Buggy model included solid surface countertops and dinette table, large Dometic AC, and 3.3 cubic foot Furrion refer and a two- burner cooktop.

“Our owner, Earl Williams comes from the supply side of the RV business so he has a good feel for quality upholstery and other elements that raise the bar in this category, both inside and out,” explained Rhode. “Our lane is the ‘Affordable Overland and EV’ ranking. Most standup trailers in this category are $40,000 to $100,000 plus in price. Our base price point on the Big Buggy is just above $25,000.”

The exterior of the Big Buggy included an all fiberglass wrap with Azdel backing built on an aluminum frame to be lightweight. The floor base is of Vixenite composite. Other standard features of note include 14-inch ground clearance, a 3,500 pound torsion axle, an outside shower/spray, rear outside storage and a two-step platform entry step not usually found on small trailers.
