Meyer MegaShow Opens to Standing Room-Only Seminars
Aided by sunny skies and 50-degree January weather, Meyer Distributing’s annual RV MegaShow kicked off Tuesday (Jan. 11) with a full slate of vendor seminars running concurrently in three ballrooms – with standing room-only the norm.
Held at the historic 1888 French Lick Resort hotel, located about 20 miles from Meyer’s Jasper, Ind., headquarters, dealers were excited to hear more about new products and take advantage of show incentives.
Although a softening economy is impacting sales of new rolling stock, dealers remain positive, buoyed by aftermarket sales, service, and the recent influx of new buyers.
Attendance at the Meyer Show as of Tuesday afternoon reflected this optimism. Around 115 dealerships and well over 300 dealer personnel – a record – was expected, according to Ben Johnson, Category Sales Manager for Meyer’s RV and Marine business. In addition, 95 vendors were on hand, filling the hotel’s 30,000 square feet of exhibit space.
Regarding anticipated sales during the MegaShow, Johnson commented that while it is only 3 o’clock in the afternoon and the exhibit hall hasn’t even opened yet, “We have seen a significant amount of promised orders already. Looking into the season ahead, obviously, people are fearful of a soft market, but Meyer is poised to grab a lot of market share this year and has the breadth of product our dealers need.”
Johnson added that the company has done nothing but grow through economic downturns, and a lot of its dealer base has also grown. “We have eight account managers serving our RV customers, and we want to add even more to continue to build our relationships,” he said.
Meyer recently made news with three new warehouse and warehouse expansions in Pennsylvania, Texas and Colorado, along with several new crossdock locations.
In addition to RV, Meyer serves the automotive, marine, 4X4, pool, and spa markets.
