Magazine Names Winnebago’s Bostick ‘Champion of Diversity’ – RVBusiness – Breaking RV Industry News
SUGAR LAND, Texas – DiversityGlobal Magazine in a press release has announced its 2023 Top 15 Champions of Diversity.
Included in the list is Jill Littlejohn-Bostick, Winnebago Industries Inc.’s Vice President of Corporate Responsibility and Inclusion, as well as Executive Director of Winnebago Industries Foundation.
Nominated by their organization’s top leaders and peers, the men and women are change agents transforming their respective organizations and communities through diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) strategic plans filled with actions to ensure progress. Their unwavering vision of an inclusive world drives them to achieve phenomenal results that benefit employees, organizations, and communities.
DiversityGlobal Magazine sent an online survey requesting nominations to over 41,000 diversity, ESG, and HR professionals and organizational leaders in corporate and nonprofit organizations business in countries worldwide. The men and women nominated by their leaders and peers completed a survey to describe their strategies and action plans for building top-quality DEI or ESG programs and their leadership qualities driving success. The results were an inspiring mix of approaches to ensure DEI and belonging move beyond discussion and become core values.
The nominees answered several questions that allowed each person to share their approaches to advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in their respective organizations. The first question asked the nominee to identify achievements and initiatives driving DEIB progress. Question two asked the DEIB leader to describe the key best practices used to embed DEIB in their organization, locally and globally. The third question asked the leader to identify leadership strengths from a “glocal” diversity perspective.
The Top 15 Champions of Diversity are working in various industry sectors. They include talent solutions, computer hardware manufacturing and software development, insurance, healthcare, credit reporting, pharmaceuticals, window and door manufacturing, sports teams and events, and education. Also represented is a scientific and professional organization for psychologists. Since most of the leaders are striving to take DEIB to global operating sites as core values, they have developed unique strategies that are the best fit for their organization. Going “glocal” (global and local) is challenging because local culture must be accommodated while continuing to embed DEIB principles in talent management systems.
The Champions of Diversity share a theme which is commitment. They are committed to bringing positive change within their organizations and in communities. They develop non-traditional channels for talent, pursue social justice, increase diversity and equity reporting for greater transparency, develop and collaborate with Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), develop new communication tools, create psychologically safe spaces for difficult conversations, develop partnerships with external organizations, and reach out to youth and young adults in underrepresented and underserved communities. The Champions believe in leading with empathy, transparency, and humility and are constantly working to build trust.
Above all, the Champions are agile and resilient as they build bridges between diverse employee groups in the workforce, and between the organization and communities. They sometimes face resistance, disbelief in the value of their work, and limited resources. That does not slow the Champions down in delivering their message that diversity is a valuable corporate human capital asset, proven through the business case for DEIB. However, knowing they are helping people reach their personal and work goals with dignity and respect drives the Champions to prevail. They begin by gaining the support of their CEOs and senior leaders, which is crucial to ongoing progress.
The accomplishments of the Top 15 Champions of Diversity will be shared in the third quarter, 2023 issue of DiversityGlobal print and digital magazines, and also published online. The bios will remain accessible for a year. They will be read by diversity professionals and leaders in the U.S., Canada, Australia, India, South Africa, China, the U.K., and the European Union. All organizational leaders are encouraged to read the bios to discover innovative approaches to advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in their workplaces.
